Gone, gone and indeed gone… comments chaps?

Where to now for Keane? How long until Terry Venables is linked to the job? Is it the right move? Will Eamonn play this out in his usual understated way in his newspaper column? Will Quinn be next? Am I running out of questions marks? Am I????

Later, JJ

i am kinda shocked. the question is: was he forced out or did he quit?

he still had time to turn it around, the points tally is not bad considering the league is so open this season, one or two wins and they'd be mid table.

I don't think it's a big surprise is it?? The minute it became apparent that Keane was having doubts about the job there was no way he was going to continue long-term. It's a real shame, even though he has made some bizarre signings I still felt they could finish at least mid-table this season.
It's going to be really annoying now though with the Mick McCarthy fan club out in force with their ".....not the first time he walked out on his team ..." bollocks, I genuinely believe that if he left of his own accord, he did it for the good of the club and not Roy Keane.
p.s. He'll always be a legend, although maybe not as a Manager.

well when he was rambling on this past week, i just assumed he was being ultra honest, as usual, i didn't really think it would come to this. certainly if he kept losing games, but it hasn't been *that* bad

He's thrown his toys out....again. My thinking is that he probably wasn't going to be getting any funds come January and left the board no choice. Him "resigning" is simply a face saving tactic, on both sides.

Was inevitable though. The amount of dross he bought is staggering really. He would have kept them up. I'm fairly sure of that. But the board surely couldn't afford to keep on indulging him?

I'm just gutted we won't get to hear/read/see him tear Dunphy to pieces.

I don't think it's a transer kitty issue really, surely Keane could'nt have expected Sunderland to waste more money for him in January.
It's possible that Quinn did'nt want to publicly sack Keane and be seen as the villain of the piece, I suppose a resignation statement suits both sides.
As for Dunphy, it'll give him something else to think about other than a certain Portugese winger for a couple of hours at least!!!!The thing with Dunphy, as JJ said in a previous post, he usually has some very valid and intelligent points to make but they get lost in hyperbole and his enormous fucking ego! I know he ghost wrote Keanes book, but why the fuck does everyone seek Dunohy out when an opinion on Keane is needed? It's been done to death!!

Good job Eamo wasn't round in Emmetts time."Let not my epitaph be written...no Eamonn put down the pen I don't care if there's a few cheap column inches in it. Kenwynne Jones Cisse and Malbranque were decent acquisitions but I'd hate to be the new manager coming in to that dressing room now poor morale ill discipline and a lot of mediocre players. Relegation scrap for an xmas present? No thanks I'll take the xbox. -TMc

keano quit by text msg? can that be true? pretty shoddy way to do it. i thought that was reserved for teenagers when breaking up.

speaking of xbox, gears of war 2 is great, best shooter since bioshock

All the evidence suggests that he quit rather than got pushed, despite Barry Glendenning suggesting otherwise on the GU podcast. He could barely speak as he held back the tears. A mate of mine is a big Sunderland fan since he went to college there years ago and is happy Keane is gone but he seems to be in the minority. I assume the bandwagoners will jump off now that Roy's left.

I have to say in Barry Glendennings defence,at the time they recorded the podcast he did'nt actually know whether he quit or was sacked.A lot of the points he made regarding the Irish media and their hatred of Roy Keane since (FUCKING!!) Saipan were spot on as well.
Did he really text in his resignation????

It appears he did quit by text alright. Just putting this out there but if Mark Hughes gets sacked at the end of the season I think Keane may have a short commute to his next job.

I'd be amazed if Keane got the city job. I would imagine they'll go for somebody high profile like Capello, Lippi or Mourinho. Given the rate at which he's making enemies in Italy, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Jose arrive at Eastlands next summer.

Yeah yeah keane blah..would you advise getting gears of war 2 over call of duty 4 Mark? Recession you know, it's one or the other...I'd say there's no way he'd want or be offered the City job. 15:30 and haven't heard Eamo pontificating all day,is he dead? TMc

Glad to see someone has their priorities in order!!

p.s. I thought a recession would mean you would'nt be able to buy either!

Jeez could Cascarino be anymore gleeful/spiteful in this eves Heddild? Bad blood there I'd say.Giles article introspective and interesting while Tom Humphries remains as fawning as ever. Pat Dolan for new manager? "it..could be a...but possibly a...what we will see is a...

Cascarino is the very definition of a joker. He talks about bottle yet completely fucked up at every available opportunity at celtic and chelsea. The man has a career thanks to Paul Kimmage's admittedly well written autobiogrphy, shame upon re-reading it you realise the majority may be completely bollocks.

buy gears of war 2, I'm gonna wait for call of duty 5 to reach 20 quid after christmas - why did they go back to world war 2? Where's the ww1 games? Mark

Some kind of Blackadder-themed WW1 game would surely be a big seller. Baldrick attempting to fight the krauts with that dead caterpillar balanced on his top lip while reciting his wartime classic poem 'German Guns' being a possible highlight.

"Boom, boom, boom, boom... boom, boom, boom... Boom, boom, boom, boom... boom, boom, boom..."
